The short version
  • Stride supports your recovery — but Stride is not a doctor. The Symptom Checker and emergency escalation are always free and never gated.
  • $16.99/month or $99/year. 7-day free trial. Auto-renewing. Cancel anytime through the App Store or Play Store.
  • AI-generated content (briefings, Q&A answers) is informational, not medical advice.
  • Be kind in the community. Don't give medical advice to others — point them to their provider, like we point you to yours.
  • You own what you post. We need a limited license to display it (to you, your cohort, and your provider if you share).
  • Disputes go to arbitration, not class actions — but you can opt out within 30 days of creating your account.
  • If we screw something up, our liability is limited — see section 12.

If you want the full text, keep reading.

Important · Medical Disclaimer Acknowledgment

You must acknowledge this before creating a Stride account.

By using Stride, you understand and agree:

  • Stride is not a medical provider. Stride does not diagnose, treat, prescribe, or provide medical advice.
  • AI-generated content is informational, not medical advice. Daily briefings, Q&A responses, and Symptom Checker outputs are based on patterns, not personal medical knowledge of your case.
  • You will defer to your medical team — your surgeon, physical therapist, or other licensed provider — for clinical decisions about your specific recovery.
  • In an emergency, you will call 911 (or your local emergency number) and not rely on Stride.
  • You will not hold Stride responsible for medical outcomes that depend on professional judgment, your own actions, or factors outside our control.

This acknowledgment is a separate agreement from the rest of these Terms of Service. It applies regardless of how you reached this screen.

01About these terms

These terms govern your use of Stride, an Achilles recovery companion app operated by Covariance LLC, doing business as Stride ("Stride," "we," "us").

By creating a Stride account or using the app, you agree to these terms, to the Medical Disclaimer Acknowledgment above, and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree to any of these, please don't use Stride.

These terms are a contract between you and Covariance LLC. They apply to everyone who uses Stride.

02Who can use Stride

Stride is for adults — 18 and older.

You can use Stride if:

  • You're 18 or older
  • You're a real person (not a bot, organization, or automated agent)
  • You're using Stride to support your own recovery, or as a provider invited by a user
  • You can form a binding contract under your state's laws

You can't use Stride if any of these aren't true, or if we've previously suspended your account for cause.

03Your account

When you create an account, you're responsible for:

  • Keeping your password secure
  • All activity that happens under your account
  • Telling us promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account (email team@goodstride.app)

One account per person. Don't share your login. Don't impersonate someone else.

We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms — see section 14.

04Subscriptions and payment

Free tier (forever)

You can use Stride free, forever. The free tier includes onboarding, your Day 1 daily briefing, three basic exercises, the Symptom Checker, and emergency escalation. The Symptom Checker and emergency escalation are always free for all users.

Premium tier

Premium unlocks full daily briefings, the complete exercise library, full community participation, AI Q&A, milestone celebrations, and provider sharing.

  • Pricing: $16.99 per month or $99 per year (about $8.25 per month)
  • 7-day free trial: Premium starts with a 7-day free trial. We don't charge you during the trial. You can cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged.

Auto-renewal

Premium subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) unless you cancel. We'll charge the payment method on file via the App Store or Play Store. You can turn off auto-renewal at any time from your device's subscription settings.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel any time:

  • iPhone: Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions > Stride > Cancel Subscription
  • Android: Play Store > Profile > Payments and subscriptions > Subscriptions > Stride > Cancel

Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google per their store policies — we don't process refunds directly. If a refund affects your access (for example, a refund within the billing period), your premium access may end.

Apple and Google terms apply. When you subscribe through the App Store or Play Store, your purchase is also governed by Apple's or Google's terms. To the extent those terms conflict with these terms regarding payment, billing, or refunds, Apple's or Google's terms govern that subject.

FSA / HSA eligibility

Stride may be eligible for FSA / HSA reimbursement through a Letter of Medical Necessity from your provider. We don't provide tax or legal advice; check with your benefits administrator.

Price changes

If we change our prices, we'll let you know at least 30 days before the change takes effect. You can cancel before the change applies to you.

05Stride is not a medical provider

This section restates the Medical Disclaimer Acknowledgment in full detail. Please read it carefully.

Stride is a recovery companion, not a medical provider. We don't diagnose, treat, prescribe, or provide medical advice. The information we surface — daily briefings, exercise recommendations, biology explanations, Symptom Checker responses, AI-generated Q&A — is informational. It is based on patterns drawn from research, clinical guidelines, and aggregated user experience. It is not personal medical advice.

Always defer to your medical team. If your surgeon, physical therapist, or other licensed provider has given you instructions that differ from anything in Stride, follow theirs. They know your case. We know patterns.

In an emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number). Do not use Stride as a substitute for emergency care. If you have chest pain, signs of a blood clot, severe shortness of breath, severe bleeding, or any other symptom that may indicate a medical emergency, call emergency services immediately.

The Symptom Checker is informational. The Green / Yellow / Red triage tiers are designed to surface patterns that may warrant your provider's attention. They are not a diagnosis. A Green result does not mean "you are fine." A Red result does not mean "you have this specific condition." Always use your own judgment, and when in doubt, contact your provider.

By using Stride, you understand and agree: you will not rely on Stride for clinical decisions; you will consult your medical team for anything specific to your case; you will not use Stride as a substitute for emergency care; and you will not hold Stride responsible for medical outcomes that depend on professional judgment, your own actions, or factors outside our control.

06AI-generated content

Parts of Stride are generated by AI, including:

  • Your daily briefing (personalized based on your recovery day, surgical method, and goal)
  • Answers to questions you ask the AI companion
  • Triage responses in the Symptom Checker

We use Anthropic's Claude family of models. Some specifics:

  • AI is not always right. Models can produce inaccurate or incomplete information. We work to constrain AI output to clinical patterns, but errors are possible.
  • AI is not a substitute for a provider. AI does not know your specific case. AI does not have access to your imaging, your surgeon's notes, or your PT's hands-on assessment.
  • You're responsible for clinical decisions. Follow your provider's plan. If AI suggests something that conflicts with your provider's instructions, follow your provider.
  • Anthropic doesn't train on your data. We use Anthropic's commercial API, which contractually prevents your data from being used to train AI models.

If you ever feel that AI-generated content in Stride is unsafe or misleading, please report it to team@goodstride.app — we take these reports seriously and we use them to improve.

07Your content

"Your content" means anything you submit to Stride — community posts, replies, reactions, briefing answers, symptom inputs, questions to the AI, provider information, and anything else you choose to share.

You own your content. We don't claim ownership.

You grant us a limited license. By submitting content to Stride, you grant Stride a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, modify, and distribute your content as needed to operate Stride. This includes showing your community posts to your cohort, displaying your recovery data on your provider's dashboard (if you choose to share), and processing your inputs to generate personalized briefings and Q&A.

This license lasts as long as your content is in Stride. When you delete content (a post, a reply, your account), the license ends, except where we need to retain content for legal reasons or in anonymized form (see Privacy Policy, section 7).

You're responsible for your content. Don't post content that violates these terms (see section 8). Don't post content that infringes someone else's rights. Don't post content you wouldn't be comfortable having seen by your cohort.

We can remove content that violates these terms or that we determine, in our reasonable judgment, may harm users (for example: content that gives specific medical advice, content that misrepresents clinical patterns, content that targets or harasses other users). We may remove without notice when safety is at stake.

08Acceptable use and community conduct

Stride's community is a meaningful part of recovery. To keep it that way, please follow these rules.

Do:

  • Share your experience honestly
  • Ask questions about what you're going through
  • Offer support and "Helpful" reactions to others
  • Report content that seems harmful or violates these rules

Don't:

  • Give specific medical advice to others ("you should take this medication," "you should ignore your PT," "this exercise will cure your pain"). Point people to their provider, like we point you to yours.
  • Harass, threaten, or attack other users
  • Impersonate other people, providers, or Stride
  • Post commercial content, spam, or solicitations
  • Post content that violates someone's privacy
  • Try to break Stride, scrape data, or interfere with how the service works
  • Attempt to bypass or circumvent the paywall or other access controls
  • Use Stride to target or recruit minors
  • Use Stride in any way that violates applicable law

If you see content that violates these rules, report it via the report button on any post or by emailing team@goodstride.app. We review reports promptly.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. Serious violations (harassment, threats, fraud) may result in immediate termination without notice.

09Privacy

Your privacy is covered in our Privacy Policy. Please read it. Key things to know:

  • We don't sell your data
  • We don't share it with advertisers
  • We don't train AI on your data
  • You can see, correct, export, or delete your data anytime

If anything in the Privacy Policy conflicts with these terms, the Privacy Policy governs the privacy-specific subject.

10Stride's content and intellectual property

Stride's content — including daily briefings, exercise instructions, biology explanations, AI-generated guidance, design, brand assets, and the Stride name and logo — is owned by Covariance LLC or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.

We grant you a limited license to use Stride's content for your personal, non-commercial recovery. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or publish Stride's content without our written permission, except as your device's operating system permits for personal use (screenshots for your own reference, sharing milestone cards we explicitly invite you to share, and similar).

Exercise videos are licensed from our exercise video vendor. They are subject to the vendor's terms in addition to ours.

If you believe content in Stride infringes your copyright, send a DMCA notice to team@goodstride.app (subject line: DMCA) with the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3).

11Stride evolves

Stride is a new product. We change things — sometimes we add features, sometimes we remove or modify them. We'll do our best to give you notice of material changes in advance, especially anything that affects your subscription or your data.

If we materially reduce premium features in a way that affects your subscription, we'll work with you in good faith on a fair resolution, which may include a prorated refund processed through Apple or Google.

12Disclaimers and limitation of liability

This section limits our liability to you. Please read it.

Stride is provided "as is" and "as available."

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express or implied — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, title, accuracy, and any warranty that Stride will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not warrant that Stride will meet your specific needs or that any information in Stride is accurate, complete, or current at any given moment.

We do not warrant the medical or clinical accuracy of any content in Stride, including AI-generated content. See section 5.

Limitation of liability.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Covariance LLC, its affiliates, and its officers, employees, contractors, and agents are not liable to you for:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages
  • Lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, or business interruption
  • Medical outcomes that depend on professional judgment, your own actions, or factors outside our control
  • Any damages arising from your reliance on AI-generated content, the Symptom Checker, or any other informational content in Stride

Our total liability to you for any and all claims related to Stride is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid Stride in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim, or (b) $100.

Some states don't allow these limits. If you live in a state that doesn't allow exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of certain damages, the limits in this section apply to you only to the maximum extent permitted by your state's law.

Statute of limitations. Any claim you have against Stride must be brought within one year of when the claim arose, except where a longer period is required by applicable law.

This section survives termination of your account or these terms.

13Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Stride and its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, and agents against claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and reasonable legal costs (including attorneys' fees) that result from:

  • Your misuse of Stride
  • Your violation of these terms or applicable law
  • Your content infringing someone else's rights
  • Your interactions with other users (including in the community)
  • Your reliance on AI-generated content or the Symptom Checker for clinical decisions

We will indemnify you against third-party claims that the core Stride app (excluding your content, third-party content, and use of Stride in violation of these terms) infringes a US copyright or trademark, subject to reasonable conditions.

We control the defense of any claim we indemnify against. You control your defense.

14Termination

You can terminate at any time. Delete your account from Settings > Account. Your subscription will continue through the end of your current billing period (handled by Apple or Google).

We can suspend or terminate your account for violations of these terms, fraud, abuse of other users, or other conduct we reasonably determine to be harmful. For serious violations, we may terminate without notice. For less serious issues, we'll usually try to notify you and give you a chance to fix the issue.

What survives. When your account terminates, these sections survive: the Medical Disclaimer Acknowledgment, 5 (medical disclaimer), 6 (AI), 7 (your content license for already-posted content, in anonymized form per Privacy Policy), 10 (IP), 12 (disclaimers and liability), 13 (indemnification), 15 (disputes), and 16 (general).

15Disputes

We hope it doesn't come to this. If you have an issue with Stride, please email team@goodstride.app first. We'll work in good faith to resolve it. You must give us at least 30 days to resolve any dispute before pursuing arbitration.

Mandatory arbitration. If we can't resolve it informally, you and Stride agree to resolve any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms, the Privacy Policy, the Medical Disclaimer Acknowledgment, or Stride itself through final and binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules. The arbitration will take place in Delaware, or virtually by mutual agreement. The arbitrator's decision is final and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Class-action waiver. You and Stride waive any right to participate in a class action, class arbitration, consolidated proceeding, or any representative action against the other. Arbitration is individual. If a court decides that this class-action waiver is unenforceable, then this entire dispute-resolution section is void — but the rest of these terms still apply.

Jury trial waiver. You and Stride each waive the right to a jury trial for any dispute.

Small-claims carve-out. Either you or Stride may bring an individual action in small claims court for any claim within that court's jurisdiction, as an alternative to arbitration.

30-day opt-out. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing team@goodstride.app within 30 days of creating your Stride account, with subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out" and your account email. Opting out doesn't affect any other part of these terms.

Federal Arbitration Act. This section is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act (9 U.S.C. § 1 et seq.), notwithstanding the governing-law clause below.

Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

16General

Entire agreement. These terms (with our Privacy Policy and the Medical Disclaimer Acknowledgment) are the full agreement between you and Stride about your use of the app. They replace any prior agreements between us about the same subject.

Severability. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still apply (subject to the specific rule in section 15 regarding the class-action waiver).

No waiver. If we don't enforce part of these terms in a particular case, that doesn't mean we waive our right to enforce it later.

Assignment. We may assign these terms (and our rights and obligations under them) to a successor entity — for example, if Stride is acquired or reorganized. You can't assign these terms without our written consent.

Force majeure. Neither party is liable for failure to perform due to events outside reasonable control — natural disasters, war, pandemics, government action, infrastructure outages at our vendors, and similar.

Notice. We may notify you by email, in-app, or by posting on our website. You may notify us at team@goodstride.app.

Updates to these terms. We may update these terms as Stride evolves or as laws change. If we make material changes, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice in-app and by email. Continued use of Stride after the change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If you don't accept, you can cancel and delete your account.

17Contact
